Cravings Popcorn has been very lucky to be in Old Town for all these years. We've seen businesses come and go, that's natural because business ain't easy. But the businesses that have been able to sustain longevity are some of the best places you could visit.
As I stated in the previous post, So, Guy Fieri walks into a bbq joint and..., I don't need no celebrity to tell me what's cool. But as one Facebook poster reminded me of, we all need confirmation sometimes from those with more clout or fame. I know Oprah was seen shopping in Grand Rapids last week. If I saw Oprah shopping in Mother and Earth Baby Boutique, I'd probably need a change of underwear.
It's cool, Old Town is cool. I've always known that Cosmos Pizza was the best gourmet pizza in the universe. Cravings Popcorn neighbor Meat BBQ, will always fill you up and make you happy. And if you are a dude and need a gift for your lady, go to Grace and get that perfume (you know, that sexy stuff) You will know it when you smell it.
I've been thinking about celebrities and their impact on local business. Although I am an old curmudgeon about celebs sometimes, my all-time and first hero is Earvin "Magic" Johnson. If the Magic Man came into Cravings to buy popcorn and gave his endorsement, you wouldn't be able to get the smile off my face.
What I want to know is this: If a celebrity were to endorse your favorite store, what store would it be and who is the celebrity?
I am Chad Jordan, creator of Cravings Gourmet Popcorn and www.cravingspopcorn.com. My art is popcorn. I strive to be a master of the craft.
