I was told that my blog post titled "You don't need Oprah to tell you your stuff is cool," may have been a little harsh and needed some clarification. Sometimes writing is different from the words you say. But I think I can make my point this way.
Think about the last time you went to Chicago. How far did you walk? Many tourist will walk as many as seven miles to get to a museum or department store.
Ok, now think about the last time you went to your favorite local business. How far did you walk? How far were you willing to walk?
If you complained because there wasn't a parking spot out front or you kept going because you could not park out front, are really supporting local business? Do you really care about your community?
Why will you walk miles in another city, but not walk blocks in your city?
Lansing has great public transportation. CATA buses are clean and run on time.
When you think about how important your city is to you, it might change your perspective about the cool things we have and how far you will walk to support them.
